Barclay commits himself to the WarriorsScotland flanker John Barclay has finally committed himself to the Glasgow Warriors by signing a 12-month extension to his contract at the club, ending months of speculation linking him with a move south of the border. Barclay was widely tipped in the sport betting to leave the club but will instead now take his association with the club to nine years, with the flanker racking up nearly 130 appearances for the Warriors in his time there. Capped 37 times by Scotland, Barclay was a part of the squad that had such a disappointing Six Nations campaign at this year’s tournament, with their results and scores well below par. The 25-year old didn’t play as bigger role as he would have liked, with Ross Rennie claiming the openside flanker position for much of the tournament. Barclay has been struggling to cement his place in the Glasgow side as well, with Chris Fusaro impressing at seven when given the chance. That competition for places hasn’t put Barclay off signing a new deal however, with the flanker insisting he believes the club has an exciting future ahead of it, something he was keen to be a part of, for at least the next 12 months. "I'm delighted to be re-signing for the Warriors at a time when the club is really going places. I've been part of Glasgow for eight years now, and the atmosphere and ambition around the club is the best I've ever experienced.” "I've taken some time to think through the decision, and I'm convinced that it's the right one. Glasgow Warriors are going places and I want to contribute to that process."
